Donald Wilson McMurray – Senior Consultant
Don McMurray has been an Academic and Consultant for over 30 years. In 1990 he was appointed to the Centre for Work and Training at Southern Cross University (SCU) to teach human resource development, managing organisational change and developing workplace learning.
Dr McMurray’s interests and consulting assignments subsequently broadened to include organisational psychology with an emphasis on leadership and organisational learning. Don continues to teach and supervise within the SCU Graduate College of Management’s Doctor of Business Administration program. He has supervised five DBA and two PhD students to completion in the last five years in the following areas: mentoring; using six sigma as a quality tool in organizations; evaluating training programs in the hospitality industry; retirement options for mature age workers; factors contributing to quality of life in the workplace; sales – skill or process; team-based incentives and selling; and factors affecting the relocation of rural workers in government enterprises.
Dr McMurray has also taught, published and consulted in Human Resource areas as well as evaluating the appropriateness of various research methodologies including quantitative, qualitative and critical. There are many consultancies to Dr. McMurray’s credit: some of which include Functional Review Projects with The Canadian International Development Agency (The Caribbean), The World Bank (Solomon Islands), Australian International Development Assistance Board (Tonga) and IDP Education (Brunei).
Most recently he has consulted to TAFE, NSW Department of School Education, the Trade Practices Commission, Corrective Services, NSW Department of Housing, Ballina Shire Council, Queensland Police, the Australian Tax Office, Department of Defence and the Royal Australian Air Force. As well as a Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD), Don also holds both Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees.
